Environmental policy

TenneT is aware of its responsibility for the living environment of people, animals and plants. We want to reduce the impact of our activities and our high‑voltage grid on the surrounding area as much as possible. Therefore, we carefully investigate and record any environmental effects and discuss them with the parties involved. TenneT has a responsibility towards society and fulfils an exemplary role in its compliance with environmental legislation.

Basic principles of our environmental policy

TenneT applies the following basic principles in its environmental policy. We:

• do not waste any energy; 
• use water, natural resources and materials as efficiently as possible;
• ensure that our waste is collected separately;
• promote the recycling of (raw) materials; 
• conduct research into the effects of our activities on plant and animal life and the environment;
• hold up‑to‑date environmental permits.
