Terms and definitions
Frequently mentioned terms will be explained in this section.
General Agreement between the grid owner and the designated grid administrator for the use of the grid or the transfer of its economic ownership.
General Meter readings performed by programme responsible parties (PRPs).
General An energy source other than gas, oil, coal or nuclear fuel.
General Ampere is the unit that represents electric current, the attractive force exerted by a cable that transmits electricity on another cable that transmits electricity. Power (Watt) can be calculated by multiplying electric current (Ampere) by voltage (Volt).
General The number of minutes during which an average customer with a connection does not receive any electricity, measured by the number of minutes per customer per year on the different voltage levels.
General The Amsterdam Power Exchange (APX) is an electricity exchange where certified market parties trade in electricity. A major share of the trade with foreign countries takes place at the APX. Further information: the website of the APX Group.
General The geographic boundary between the grids of one or more grid administrators determined by the Board of Management of the Netherlands Competition Authority.
General Definition of the area within which the electricity grid administrator or the gas grid administrator provides the transmission of electricity or gas, respectively, based on the established geographical (municipal) boundaries as at 31 December 1998 (unless indicated otherwise).
General A point in the grid, to be designated by the grid administrator, that can be used by the programme responsible parties (PRPs) to report their transmission forecasts, which equal the sum of the transmission forecasts of the grid connection points of that PRP at lower voltage levels behind the point concerned.
General The profile fraction multiplied by the tariff correction factor, the climate correction factor and the sum of the standard annual consumption of all customers per programme-responsible party in a profile category and in a certain tariff category.
General A situation in which the voltages and/or currents in the conductors of a three-phase system are not evenly balanced.
General Although the public electricity supply is a complex system, it is highly reliable (i.e. its availability is very good). As with any technology, operating disruptions cannot be entirely ruled out, but they are relatively rare. If they do occur, these situations are referred to as ‘non-availability’.
General The installed capacity minus the capacity that is unavailable for the reasons listed in Article 2.4.1.3, under b, of the System Code.
General The average time during which the transmission service to a customer is disrupted, measured in minutes per year on the different voltage levels.
