NorNed

20-06-2006 Transmission System Operators Statnett (Norway) and TenneT are installing the worlds longest submarine high voltage cable (580 kilometres) between Norway and the Netherlands. The NorNed cable will interconnect the Dutch and Norwegian electricity grids and energy exchanges. It will be taken into operation at the beginning of 2008. Via the cable, Statnett and TenneT can transit electricity from the Netherlands to Norway and vice versa.
