22-05-2007 From a strong Dutch market, TenneT will continue to work on a further integration of the European energy market in the coming years: the consumer must be able to count on a reliable supply of electricity at a competitive price, now and in the future. This is stated in the annual report of TenneT for 2006 which focuses on the theme market development in Europe. Besides more certainty, a stable thriving international electricity market would also result in a better product at a better price for the consumers because of a healthy competitive environment. Further integration of the often still nationally structured electricity markets is the best route to a strong and transparent European market. TenneT is working on this, also through projects such as the tri-lateral linking of markets, the connection Doetinchem-Wesel, BritNed, NorNed and further expansion of inter-connection capacity. In doing so, TenneT works together closely with governments, regulators, and colleague TSO's. The ultimate objective is one market area.
