Annual Report 2008

19-05-2009 ‘Full power ahead’ is the watchword for TenneT, with a particular focus on energy market integration, infrastructure expansion, the transition to a sustainable energy supply, and grid innovation. In addition, the internationalisation of the electricity grid contributes to enhanced security of supply and uniform market prices. These are some of the main themes in TenneT’s Annual Report for 2008, which was published today.

The Netherlands is taking the lead in the development of an integrated electricity market in north-western Europe. The country’s geographic location makes it a good candidate to become an ‘energy hub’ for the entire European market. The Netherlands is also an ideal location for producers supplying the European market, in part because of the high quality transmission grid. It falls to TenneT to ensure that the grid has sufficient capacity to cope with these developments. TenneT is therefore investing billions of euros in expansion over the next few years.
