In its capacity of Transmission System Operator and administrator of the transmission grid, TenneT is in charge of the 'highways' of the Dutch electricity grid that interconnects all regional grids as well as the European grid. The organisation seeks to ensure optimum service provision in support of a properly functioning electricity market in the Netherlands and in Northwestern Europe.

Primary duties

As such it devotes continuous attention to the strengthening of the Dutch electricity market within a European perspective. We do this, among other things, by providing transmission and system services as well as services for the electricity market. TenneT's primary statutory duties are the administration of the national transmission grid and maintenance of the required balance in the Dutch electricity grid.
