Legal structure

Under the Electricity Act of 1998, the administrator of the national transmission grid is obliged to adopt the statutory two tier (‘structure’) regime. Among other things, this means that the Board of Management must submit certain decisions specified in the Act to the Supervisory Board for approval, and must do so in advance.

Group structure

TenneT has adapted its group structure with a view to separating its regulated, statutory tasks from its non-regulated activities. TenneT TSO B.V. carries out TenneT's regulated duties in the Netherlands. These are statutory tasks related to managing the national transmission grid and maintaining the required balance between supply and demand in the Dutch electricity grid. In Germany, TenneT TSO GmbH and TenneT Offshore GmbH carry out the regulated duties.

All shares in TenneT Holding B.V. are held by the State of the Netherlands.
