TenneT and VEMW reach agreement on model contract
02-07-2010
TenneT and the Dutch Association for Energy, Environment and Water (VEMW) have reached an agreement on a model contract for companies connected to the TenneT high-voltage grid. This document, intended to have a wide range of applications, provides a clear and uniform description of the rights and obligations pertaining to high-voltage grid connections. VEMW President Hans Grϋnfeld and TenneT CEO Mel Kroon today signed an agreement to this effect.
Comprising a standard connection and transmission contract and standard general terms and conditions, the model contract sets out the rights and obligations which apply to both electricity transmission operator TenneT and the parties with a direct connection to TenneT’s high-voltage grid. These rights and obligations include arrangements on the amount of electricity that the connected party may supply to or purchase from the high-voltage grid, the connection’s maintenance, invoicing and payments, and liability. The model was developed by TenneT and submitted to VEMW, which represents the interests of corporate electricity consumers.
“Being a transparent, reliable partner for our stakeholders is important to us”, says TenneT CEO Mel Kroon. “As such, we are very pleased with this breakthrough. In close cooperation with VEMW as a representative of many of our corporate clients, we have been able to reach an agreement on this model contract.”
“Organisations with a high-voltage grid connection require transparent and balanced terms and conditions”, says VEMW President Hans Grϋnfeld. “We made a real effort to ensure that the negotiations with TenneT were a success and we are very pleased that, from now on, all connected parties will have a solid base for arrangements concerning their specific connection.”
TenneT will use the model contract for both existing and new clients on the 110 and 150 kV grids. For a limited period following its acquisition of these grids from regional operators TenneT also took over their contracts with connected parties. In the coming months TenneT will contact clients individually to inform them about the new contract.
