Procurement policy

TenneT’s purchasing policy is based on three pillars: European laws and regulations, our corporate policy, and best practices in procurement management. Transparency and non‑discrimination are important starting points for all our purchasing processes.

Several key aspects of our purchasing policy are listed below.

TenneT’s General Terms and Conditions of Purchase

TenneT has drawn up a set of General Terms and Conditions of Purchase; you may download this document at the bottom of this page. Additional agreements may be concluded for specific products or services.

Cost of ownership

When purchasing products and services, TenneT strives to control and reduce the total cost of ownership. We aim for the ‘most economic offer’: an optimum balance between quality, cost and service life.

Encouraging free-market operation

TenneT purchases a wide range of specialised products and services. We encourage a fair and free operation of the market to ensure the continued availability of a sufficient and competitive supply of specialised products and services.

Purchasing contracts

TenneT draws up purchasing contracts to cover all its expenditure on products and services, and does so in a clear and professional manner. We enter into various types of short‑term and long‑term contracts and recognition arrangements. Suppliers who meet TenneT’s requirements are included in our vendor base. In this vendor base we also record any and all agreements that we have entered into.
