Development process

The new Wintrack concept requires an extensive development process. In 2006 a preliminary design was created with the aid of European grants. After the performance of an international market survey, however, TenneT decided not to take this design into production. Instead, TenneT commissioned KEMA to create a new, simplified design. This design has KEMA created together with Swarts&Jansa Architects Amsterdam.

Contribution of the European Union

For the development of the new pylon, use has been made of European Union grants provided through the LIFE programme. This financial instrument is intended to contribute to the development of innovative technologies and methods in the field of environment and to the further development of the environmental policy of the European Union. For more information about the LIFE programme you can visit the dedicated website of the European Union
