Planning and procedures

It will take roughly ten years to prepare and carry out the Randstad380 project. The work will be performed in an area where space is scarce. TenneT is aware of its social responsibility and exercises great care when developing new sections of the high‑voltage grid. As the need is most urgent in the southern part of the Randstad region, we are going to work from south to north. Work will start first on the southern ring (between Maasvlakte and Bleiswijk). This will be followed by work on the northern ring (from Bleiswijk to Diemen).

We will incorporate the power lines as unobtrusively as possible in the surroundings. As far as reasonably possible, we will make allowance for the wishes of government bodies, interest groups, local businesses and residents. The exact route of the lines will be worked out in consultation with the local authorities and stakeholders. The Ministry of Economic Affairs is responsible for the procedures and for planning the work.
