NorNed
The NorNed project is a joint initiative of the national Transmission System Operators (TSOs) of both Norway and the Netherlands. Upon completion, the NorNed cable will interconnect the Dutch and Norwegian electricity grids. Via this cable, TenneT and Statnett (Norway’s Transmission System Operator) will be able to transmit power from the Netherlands to Norway and vice versa.
Spanning 580 kilometres, the NorNed cable will be the longest submarine high voltage cable in the world. The cable will have a total weight of some 47,000 tonnes.
