TenneT increases height of pylon along A2 motorway at Maastricht
08-10-2011
Electricity transmission operator TenneT increased the height of a pylon alongside the A2 motorway at Maastricht on Saturday 8 October 2011.
The high-voltage pylon is part of a 150-kilovolt line that runs between Maastricht and Schin op Geul. A large crane lifted up the top part of the existing pylon. An extra section about 3 metres long was then inserted. This work, commissioned by the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat), was necessary in connection with the future reconstruction of the A2 motorway. Due to a new access road to the Beatrixhaven industrial estate it is necessary to suspend the overhead conductors (wires) at a higher level. While the work was in progress the electricity supply was rerouted via other high-voltage lines in the region.
