Transformer substation at Niedorp

Regional grid operator Liander and TenneT have submitted an application to the Niedorp local authority for the construction of a transformer substation at ’t Veld, a village in the northern part of Noord-Holland province.

In order to meet the growing demand for electricity both now and in the future, Liander and TenneT are carrying out a stage-by-stage expansion of the existing power distribution grid in the northern part of Noord-Holland province. This requires a number of modifications to the electricity infrastructure.

One of the plans entails the construction of a new transformer substation – to be known as ‘De Weel’ – next to provincial road N241 at ’t Veld in the municipality of Niedorp. The grid operators have selected this location following an extensive study into the various options for integrating the substation into the surroundings. Thanks to the substation’s favourable location directly underneath the existing high-voltage line, less drastic changes to the surroundings will be required than would be the case at other locations in the region. Before the station is going to be build, first procedures and permits will be arranged.
