Vijfhuizen substation
TenneT is constructing a new high voltage electricity connection between Wateringen and Beverwijk under the name ‘Randstad 380 kV’. Transformer substations located at different points along the route will monitor grid stability and convert electricity from 380 kV to 150 kV for regional distribution. One of the new transformer substations is to be built at Vijfhuizen, a town near Amsterdam. Because part of the Randstad 380 kV connection will be laid underground, these substations require additional installations to safeguard the stability of the national electricity grid. The substation at Vijfhuizen will be sited on the south side of industrial estate ‘De Liede’, in the triangle formed by the existing 150 kV transformer substation, Spaarnwouderweg and the N205 secondary road.
The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation and the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment are drawing up a land use plan for the construction of this high voltage substation. The land use plan for Vijfhuizen substation will be adopted separately pending finalisation of the land use plan for the northern section (’North Ring’) of the Randstad 380 kV connection.
Further information on the new connection may be found on the Randstad 380 kV project website at www.randstad380kV.nl (Dutch only).
Further information on the public consultation procedure for the Vijfhuizen substation may be found on the website of the Energy Projects Office.
