Station De Lier
Within the framework of the increased demand for transmission of electricity in Westland, an increased capacity of the electricity grids must become available. For the supply of among others electricity from cogeneration (in Dutch referred to as WKK’s) to the national grid it is required that – in the short-term – increased transformer capacity is to be developed in the region. A suitable location was found at the Kade van Ras 4-6.
Plan en procedure
Westland Infra 20 KV station. For these buildings an exemption of the zoning plan is required, on the basis of Art. 19 of the Dutch Spatial Planning Act. This exemption has been applied for at the municipality, Westland, at the end of April 2008.
It is expected that the plan will be available for inspection in the summer of 2008, after which the council meeting will make a decision. In the end the approval of the province of Zuid-Holland is required as well. The planning is to start preparing the site in the autumn of 2008, and to start with the actual construction in the beginning of 2009, in order to commence operation of the first section of the station at the end of 2009.
The transformer station will be unmanned, however employees will frequently be present for supervision and maintenance. On the one hand the station will consist of a switch field in the open air, on the other hand it will consist of a number of buildings, which will include the housing of equipment producing the most noise (such as the transformers).
Planning
The planning of the station is as following:
- Application for permits: spring 2008 – summer 2008
- Land clearing building of the station - autumn 2008
- Test period station - autumn 2009
- Commencement of operation (in phases) - winter 2009 – spring 2010
