System balance
For each date and per Programme Time Unit (PTU), the graphs and the table entitled ‘System balance’ show recent data relating to the maintenance of the national balance.
Explanation of system balance
Volume data are expressed in MW and are based on observations regarding the five-minute average of each Programme Time Unit (PTU).
- The net exchange concerns the exchange programme between the Netherlands and other countries within the UCTE system (Belgium and Germany; + import, - export).
- The exchange difference concerns the difference between the net measured exchange with other countries and the net exchange programme; the inadvertent exchange (+ surplus, - deficit).
- The balance of TenneT’s contribution concerns the net capacity requested by TenneT on the basis of bids for the purpose of maintaining the balance (+ upward adjustment, - downward adjustment). Any emergency capacity used will not be included in the balance of TenneT’s contribution.
The situational parameters relate to one PTU:
- Regulating state (-1, 0, 1, 2): based on the SysteemCode [System Code], TenneT explicitly determines the regulating state.
- Emergency capacity indicator (0, 1): if emergency capacity is activated, TenneT will immediately set this operational parameter to 1. Depending on the dispatch time of the activated emergency capacity, a price for emergency capacity will be established in this PTU which will act as a determining factor for the imbalance price.
- The regulating state and the emergency capacity indicator in the overview of settlement prices will play a leading role in the settlement.
