Transmission services
TenneT transmits electricity from producers to consumers via the national high-voltage grid. To ensure that the transmission of electricity across the national high-voltage grid occurs properly, TenneT carries out a number of activities:
- resolution of transmission restrictions;
- compensating for grid losses;
- maintaining the voltage and reactive power supplies;
- management and maintenance of the national high-voltage grid;
- reaching agreements with regional grid administrators and our neighbouring countries.
Who provides transmission services?
TenneT is not the only party in the Netherlands that provides transmission services. All Dutch regional grid administrators provide transmission services to the parties connected to the grids they manage. TenneT is the only grid administrator that offers capacity for cross-border transmissions of electricity.
Context
The stipulations on the transmission services, the right to these services and the quality of these services are set in various law and regulations which you can find at the website of the Office of Energy Regulation.
Payments for transmission services
The transmission tariff covers the costs incurred by grid administrators for the provision of the transmission services.
