Certificates from DigiNotar to New TenneT

PKI Migration SHA-1 finished

On December 8th 2011, the last DigiNotar certificates were replaced. From that date onwards all marketparties use a certificate issued by TenneT. Even though the security of message exchange has not been at stake at any time, any relation with the Iranian hackers has been broken.

Has the project finished? No. In 2012 all certificates will be replaced by a new certificate with a higher security level. This is necessary because hackers are getting smarter. The DigiNotar example shows us what hackers can do. It is TenneT's responsibility to guarantee a secure message exchange. We guarantee this by imposing requirements for ourselves and the marketparties.
The planning for 2012 has not been finished yet. As soon as there is more information available, TenneT will inform all marketparties.

DigiNotar

For safety reasons TenneT decided to stop the migration towards the PKI certificates that are issued by DigiNotar. Instead, we will start issuing certificates ourselves as soon as possible in the same fashion as we used to do before we started working with DigiNotar. The main goal is to migrate all parties to a new TenneT certificate by the end of December 2011. This phase of the PKI project started on Monday September 12, 2011.

We would like to stress that there is technically no issue with our certificates that are issued via Diginotar.

PKI-certificate

TenneT is responsible for supplying CPS users with access codes and message encryption algorithms as a means of guaranteeing the confidentiality of the information being sent. TenneT accomplishes this via the provision of PKI certificates such as the ones currently in your possession.
