Connection services
TenneT manages the Dutch national transmission grid and the connections to the grid. The law defines a connection as one or more links of an ‘immovable property’ with the grid, or two or more links between grids of different voltages.
In the case of most of our connections, the voltage level of the connected party is lower. We provide the connections with the transmission grid, take care of maintenance and resolve any faults. The Office of Energy Regulation lays down the conditions under which we establish the connections with the high-voltage grid.
TenneT has published a connection procedure. This document describes the procedure used by TenneT to realise connections to its high-voltage grid. You can download the procedure below.
In the position paper 'Connection policy' you read all you want to know about the connection policy of TenneT TSO B.V..
Congestion management
The energy sector is undergoing major changes. There is great demand for new connections. TenneT is therefore working hard to expand the grid and is developing new policies to deal with any capacity shortages. One of these new policies is congestion management, a temporary system aimed at creating more room on the grid. For more information on the congestion management system and updates on the current state of affairs, visit Transmission and system services/Congestion management.
